Today a high-speed train traveling through West Bengal crushed and killed an elephant that was crossing the tracks. A Forest Department official said that the Indian railway is looking into the cause of the accident, though the "cause" seems pretty clear from the photo. According to Reuters, "This is the sixth reported incident of an elephant being killed by speeding trains in the region where the train route passes through an area close to the Gorumara National Park."
