Video from Oslo shows incredible damage
This explosion was obviously planned by someone. And while Oslo comprehends what has just happened to its government headquarters, it is reported that a gunman is shooting at campgoers at a summer camp in Utoya, which is 30 miles outside Oslo. The campers have jumped into the water and are swimming away from the gunman. (source) Reuters is already speculating about which militant group could be behind the attacks. Nobody has claimed responsibility, but Reuters gives six possibilities: Al Qaeda / Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan / Lashkar-E-Taiba / Al Shabaab / Tehrik-E-Taliban Pakistan / AQIM. To list militant groups like flavors of soda seems premature, though Reuters does say Norway as a NATO member has received threats over its involvement in Afghanistan and Libya. I can't help but think the explosions today will severely change the intensity of the Terrorism game. Norwegian State Secretary Kristian Amundsen said the explosions were the worst his country has seen. What will Norway do? A largely safe and incredibly prosperous country feeling the direct effects of terrorism. Will Norway go on the offense and take after every known terrorist cell in the world?
