Yesterday, the Internets were abuzz with the discovery of Julian Assange's OkCupid profile, under the alias HarryHarrison. Now, it seems HarryHarrison also had a profile set up (members only) on CouchSurfing.org, a site that helps travelers find hosts to stay with when traveling.

The picture is certainly Assange and the profile does feel real. His last login was December 17th, 2006 from Budapest and his occupation is listed as "Investigative journalist / rabble rouser." In case you're wondering about his taste in movie/books/music, he likes "Obscure works produced under difficult circumstances by courageous authors". The people he enjoys include, "Voltaire. Richard Feynman. My parents."

Anyone who hosts him can look forward to "Many stories from attempted assassinations in Africa to telephone taps in Australia, to under cover in Egypt, election rigging, deportations, Russian mafia, scientific expeditions, politician's wives..."

The reviews from other users who have hosted "HarryHarrison" or stayed at his place in Melbourne are overwhelmingly positive.

Not on my couch, but ...

... if I were independently wealthy, I would fund Assange's right to publish the only truth about the war that American taxpayers have access to. We should trust what Gates, Mullen and Petraeus tell us??

Crash

Is Foreign so unalterably opposed to the publication of the truth that that it posts trash like this?

Correction in the article

His last login was in JULY 2008 from Budapest and not in December 2006 as the article states.

Wow, Interesting that even his guests call him Harry in the references. I still am of the opinion that this is Julian Assange, because if the guy in the picture on profile wouldn't be the host of all these people leaving him references, there'd have been some serious outcry! So ...

But wonder why did he call himself Harry Harrison ...

easy

Harry Harrison is a semi-famous sci-fi authour, best known for the Stainless Steel Rat series. The protagonist of those novels resembles Assange fairly well.

"The reviews from other users who have hosted "HarryHarrison" or stayed at his place in Melbourne are overwhelmingly positive."

Actually, That's not that right. He has 4 positives references and 2 neutrals.
Yes, he hasn't got any negatives but on CS even a neutral reference is not something nice.
I'm not trying to say that he is a monster, he just seems to be a special kind of person by being less enjoyable/normal than regular people (too intelectual ?).
The good thing is that people who have let positive references are extremely enthousiastic about him...

of course

Why wouldn't I? Just because the US now uses him as a scapegoat for its failures? Now all the American media - FP standing right in the line - are full of trash-talking as if the Wikileaks was the only reason of US foreign policy failing so miserably. Name just one FP success from the recent ten years. It's far easier to say "they hate us because of Assange" then saying "they hate us because we're acting like gunslinging warmongers".

assange couch

I would hide Assange just like I would hide a Mexican worker or Anne Frank.

I certainly wouldn't hide him

I certainly wouldn't hide him but I'd give some space to sleep on for anyone who needed a room for the night. Even if they're the worst I still wouldn't want them on their own. Of course I'd still prefer they go somewhere more inclined to support them instead.

Not if I had women to protect

I wouldn't let him in my house if I had a wife, girlfriend, or young daughters, even if I agreed with his anti-american politics (which I don't).
