Considering that Africa is a continent and it is being compared to nations and Europe, a rather small continent that can be argued is really Eurasia, this is hardly surprising.

Considering the world view of Africa

Considering that usually the world don't see Africa as a continent with many different countries, economies, languages and cultures, but just as a big poor country, I think the comparison is valid.
