I see that my former mayor has some issues with the Obama administration's counterterrorism strategy:

“What he [Obama] should be doing is following the right things that Bush did -- one of the right things he did was treat this as a war on terror. We had no domestic attacks under Bush. We’ve had one under Obama,” Giuliani said. “Number two, he should correct the things that Bush didn’t do right. Sending people to Yemen was wrong, not getting this whole intelligence thing corrected.”

I guess we should give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he meant "no domestic attacks other than the worst one in American history on which I've largely based my political career for the last decade."  There were those pesky little anthrax attacks too.

In any event, Bruce Schneier's argument that aspects of the U.S. national security apparatus actually did work as they were supposed to and probably prevented Abdulmutallab's attack from succeeding, is worth a read. (Hat tip: Blake's Twitter)

Again, I find it interesting

Again, I find it interesting that criticism of Mr. Obama centers in on the fact that there were no attacks on the U.S under Bush. I notice that no one seems to take the logical step and think 'wasn't the intelligence community supposed to be refurbished and made less bureaucratic under Bush?'. Obama didn't campaign on the platform of intelligence reform. If we experience significant failure over Afghanistan, Iran, or North Korea I could accept it somewhat. If the economy continues to be poor by 2012 I could accept it somewhat. However I don't like partisan attacks that only there to be partisan, that's like blaming Bush for FEMA's failures in New Orleans when I don't know of a reason for why Bush should have known there was a problem beforehand.

Acting blind?...or just plain stupid?

To quote the author:"no domestic attacks other than the worst one in American history on which I've largely based my political career for the last decade.".....
.....where the heck was Giuliani during the September 21st attack? Or does he not consider that a "domestic attack" to claim that there was no such attacks during the Bush administration? Or was he not aware that Bush was the president back then?..:(
..please, what utter rubbish!
