Sarkozy liveblog

French President Nicolas Sarkozy takes the stage now. Sarkozy has recently proposed a pre-summit on climate change and also taken a hard line on financial regulation in the leadup to the G-20 in Pittsburgh. We'll see if he sheds any more light on either of the stances.

"Nothing would be worse than a mediocre compromise in Pittsburgh and in Copenhagen." It certainly sounds as if Sarkozy is preparing to throw down the gauntlet. Obama's rhetoric on these issues as of late has focused on the need for compromise and getting the best deal that's politically possible. A conflict between the two approaches seems inevitable right now.
