Hillary's headband makes a comeback

It seems the most comment-worthy aspect of U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's visit to Cape Verde last Friday was neither her meeting with Prime Minister José Maria Neves nor the praise she heaped on the government as a "model of democracy and economic progress in Africa." It was her headband.

In a rare nod to her stylings as first lady, Clinton sported a beloved accessory that's been missing on the political scene for more than a decade -- with good reason. Please, please send it back to wherever it came from. Headbands don't suit anyone over the age of eight, least of all a secretary of state who's trying desperately to be taken seriously.

I'm sure she was fighting some frizz after her grueling, 11-day, seven-nation tour of Africa last week, but that's really no excuse.

Bad Journalists

WTF!

First, health care reform, where the corporate media has done its best to sabotage reform! Now, SecState Clinton? Can you asses do your jobs and report on substantive issues, not headbands?

Please resign your job!

Ridiculous

Please focus on assessing Clinton's job and not her wardrobe. I expect more from FP than subtle sexism.

Come on

I like that Passport has a sense of humour. Does the blog have to be nothing but in-depth foreign policy analysis? I like the headband look. Reminds me of Tymoshenko.

I've been reading FP for a long time. This is truly beneath the standard quality of this blog and the magazine. Who cares whether Hillary Clinton is wearing a headband. And frankly, it has no bearing on her performance as Secretary of State. This stuff is reminiscent of so much of the shameful media coverage Mrs. Clinton has received over the years.

she could wear a carmen miranda hat for all i care

as long as she does her job - why are you reporting on this?

There's nothing wrong with

There's nothing wrong with her headband, she's probably just trying to grow out her hair. People don't take Hillary seriously because they underestimate her and her hairstyle isn't going to change that. Foreign policy fluff shouldn't be unwelcome on this blog, but your catty fashion comments should be.
