Obama gives Libya's Qaddafi two shakes
Thu, 07/09/2009 - 5:02pm

Here's one for the family photo album: U.S. President Barack Obama shakes hands at the G-8 summit with a visiting Muammar al-Qaddafi on Thursday. The Libyan leader, who in 2003 agreed to abandon his country's weapons of mass destruction, has attempted to improve his relationship with the United States after decades of mistrust.
The Obama encounter just might be the reward Qaddafi's been looking for.

US-African Relations
I'm encouraged about Obama's apparent interest in mutually beneficial relationships with African countries. Investment in Africa is coming, its not a matter of if but when. The Chinese have already begun but the US will not be far behind. Africa is strategically placed in the world and people are realizing the military, economic and diplomatic advantages of positive relationships with Africa countries.
I've attempted to map the relationships between the US and African countries. I welcome your comments to make the map more accurate and to help in this important discussion!
