Kosovo ex-PM dogged by war crimes allegations

Posted By Brian Fung Share

It's doesn't have the conspiratorial, gunslinging pizzaz of Clive Owen's performance in The International, but a standing Interpol warrant has led to the arrest of former prime minister of Kosovo Agim Ceku by Bulgarian authorities.

Ceku, who was arrested last night at the Macedonian border, is wanted for alleged crimes committed against Serbs during the 1998-1999 Kosovo War. Though Ceku vehemently denies the accusation, the man's record has been far from stellar. He's been arrested twice before at various European airports and was also kicked out of Colombia earlier this year when he popped up on Interpol's radar.

But this development actually raises more questions about Interpol's supposed neutrality — and its agenda — than about Ceku himself.

War crimes Here and Everywhere.

War crimes seems to be a term that is thrown around quite a bit. Here, in the US, Mr. Bush has been given that label and it seems to be a fashionable put down. I personally don't like this as it cheapens its true meaning. I don't know enough about the above situation to know, but hope there is a much stronger case here.

Best,

What?

You mean the KLA weren't the unalloyed good guys Team Clinton portrayed them to be back in the day? The Kosovar Albanians had cutthroats just like the Serbs? It wasn't black hats versus white hats? I'm so confused...
