Over at The Atlantic, Marc Ambinder offers a peek into President Barack Obama's Afghanistan-Pakistan strategy -- to be unveiled tomorrow. Among the highlights:
The correct phrase is "sneak peek," as in "a brief and furtive/secretive look." A peak is the top of something, like a mountain for instance. This grammatical error is shamefully common among mainstream media outlets, for reasons I will never understand.
ATTN Moderator:
I note that you chose not to correct the usage error (which any elementary school grammar teacher would have marked as incorrect). Shame on you -- AND your editors. I don't care if you publish this comment or not, but fix the friggin' error! Don't you people have any standards?
