Libyan leader General Muammar Qaddafi has some advice for U.S. foreign policy: forget a two state solution in Israel, re-trace the mis-steps of the Bush Administration in Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo, and talk to Osama Bin Laden. "I think Osama bin Laden is a person who can be given a chance...Maybe he wants peace."
The Leader, as he is affectionately (and mandatorily) referred to in Libya, spoke at Georgetown University via satellite last night. And the view from Qaddafi-cam looks a characteristic mix of suprisingly rational rhetoric with a healthy dose of crazy.
Qaddafi's proposal for a one-state solution in Israel was also laid out in a New York Times op-ed today.("We can call [the single state] Isratine", he suggested at Georgetown.) He likewise offered a candid admission that petro-state Libya is suffering from the low oil prices.
In the war on terror, Qaddafi described a window of opportunity for Obama to reach out to a select few. Without explanation, he concluded that, though Ayman al-Zawahiri is a thug, Bin Laden might be more rational "Maybe we can have a dialogue with [bin Laden] and find out the reason that led him in this direction," Qaddafi suggested.
Yeah, I'm sure Obama will take that under advisement.
As our photo essay so eloquently put it, The Leader has got his groove back. The only question is -- does Obama want to dance?

Oh ha.
Isatine? No, give back its original name - Canaan.
I recall Muammar Qaddafi when he rode out in his little boat to harass one of our ships eons ago. Reagan then bombed his tent but it killed a baby. Bombing has to stop - and all the cowboy rhetoric. Good grief, this is 2009. And wasn't Qaddafi's photo on Time Magazine as the most dangerous man? We've had so many. Saddam Hussein too. Seems we always have to have a dangerous man somewhere so we have an excuse to make bombs. But I do believe that W is responsible for far more dead people than either of those guys? And the lies to take us to war? What's the punishment for that? Must be enough to get him on the front of Time Magazine too!
Yep, call it Canaan. The US has never recognized the annexation of Gaza, the West Bank, East Jerusalem or the Golan. Neither has God although Jerry Falwell may have said He did but that's not true. It's all illegally occupied. So, just start from scratch, give the illegal settlements with their pools to the homeless Palestinians who were driven into wretched and I do mean wretched (been there) camps as their homes, lands were confiscated. Don't scream and yell, it's all documented. The entire land was lived on despite what Theodore Herzl said - he never even went there!
Meantime the Gaza physician born into a refugee camp (more a concentration camp when I was there), Dr. Aish, whose three daughters were killed by Israeli missiles was televised by Israeli reporters, and it was so heartwrenching that even the reporter shed a tear. Dr. Abu Al-Aish is a hero because his screams were the only ones heard out of hundreds who were dying in the attacks on Gaza. So Dr. Aish should be on Larry King Live, Oprah and others - and they should air that devastating tape of his cries for his dead daughters he was raising after his wife died. Even the pretty lady Israeli leader, Tipsi Lizi or whatever, shed a tear for Dr. Aish. His personality and his story should cause people to want a just peace right now! And then bring on some of the Shimistim youths in Israeli prisons for refusing to take part in the occupation - maybe Israel will let them out a few days? They are brave too. And the pilot who brought down that jet in the Hudson River? Put him on too - he likely is for peace - if not, leave him home. Oh and by all means invite Iran's Ahmadenijad! He is entertaining and always smiling and he wants peace. He just dislikes zionism - who doesn't? It's racist and bigoted so it's tacky as all get out! We have a black president now so get rid of racist zionism. I was raised a Baptist and I should know! Tacky, tacky tacky. Did you know that Larry King said recently that he's going to visit Iran. Good for him! We should all start visiting back and forth and see what the rest of the world is like. It's fun! Oh and get rid of Israel's nuclear arsenal so the entire M.E. doesn't feel threatened. I have some of Iran's rugs - gorgeous! Anyone who can make those, has to be nice.
That's my answer on how to stop all this killing and inhumane treatment of the illegally occupied - bring them all together and say, look this is it, this is Canaan, like it or lump it. Bring in an international peace keeping force to protect everyone. Have a big party!
Meantime stop sending all the billions of dollars there because we need it here!!!!!
God bless President Obama!
I think that Qaddafi has many valid points that the Administration of Barack Obama [President] should listen...to it...
