South Africa and the World Cup

Stripping South Africa of the World Cup because it refuses to intervene in Zimbabwe would send the message to host countries that they can host a sporting event, (World Cup, Euro Cup, Olympics, etc.) but they may be held hostage to the political demands of the governing body. Is that the message we want sporting events to send?
