Fox News: Palin didn't know what countries were in NAFTA
Wed, 11/05/2008 - 10:12pm
Ouch:
[Carl] Cameron, the Fox beat reporter for the Republican presidential ticket, said he had been told by unnamed sources -- and on the condition he not report the details during the campaign -- that Palin could not name all of the countries that are part of the North American Free Trade Agreement.
He did not mention which one (or ones) she whiffed on, but there are only three: Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.
Nor, according to Cameron, was Palin aware that Africa is a continent.
Here's the video:

Consider the source
I saw the clip as well and realized that this was coming from McCain staffers, bitter about having done poorly, looking for scapegoating or backbiting or whatever losers do. Also mentioned was that she "didn't know that Africa was a continent, not a country". However further details revealed that this tidbit came from a question she asked when an aide was talking about South Africa, whether the aid meant South Africa the country, or south Africa the part of the continent. It was interpreted to mean that she did not mean "southern Africa" when she asked the question. Pretty petty inconsequential reporting to rely in the difference of interpretation.
This is why I'm growing
This is why I'm growing increasingly frustrated with FP: Passport.
It's a post like this that makes this site, sometimes, no better than the MediaMatters (liberal)or NewsBusters (conservative).
(1) Have a media a clip. (2) Quote that clip.
Problem is the clip is either (a) out of context or (b) abusing the words of someone else out of context.
Are we really to believe that Palin doesn't know Africa is a continent? And, no, I don't want to hear the ad hominem attacks from the left and right.
Palin's attackers
It was expected that some of McCain's senior advisors would try and shift the blame for McCain's defeat to Gov. Palin. It's not going to work. Carl Cameron should either name the attackers or quit his job with fox. Palin will be a major player in the republican party after they do a little housecleaning.
