Can this be real?
A Quebec comedy duo notorious for prank calls to celebrities and heads of state has reached Sarah Palin, convincing the Republican vice-presidential nominee she was speaking with French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
In the roughly six-minute telephone interview released Saturday, Palin and the pranksters known as the Masked Avengers discuss politics, pundits, and the perils of hunting with Vice-President Dick Cheney.
"We have such great respect for you, John McCain and I, we love you," Palin is heard to gush to comedian Marc-Antoine Audette, masquerading as Sarkozy.
Palin doesn't seem to realize she's being tricked until Audette tells her at the end of the interview.
"Oh, have we been pranked?" she says. Seconds later, Palin's aide can be heard before the line goes dead.
Hahaha... who did he name as the PM of Canada?
Here's a link to the audio of the prank call:

This is great!

Though digitally edited on behalf of the comedians, the audio from Palin is real. I wonder if the big media companies will pick this up.

Blue Skies Ahead
I thought of the same thing when the news first appeared and tracked it for a while. Most companies did pick up on it, but covered it differently, here are a few sample headlines:
Fox - Palin Tells Fake Sarkozy She'll Be President in 2016 (nothing about how she had no idea who the Canadian PM was)
BBC - Sarah Palin fooled into thinking the French president is on the line (more concerned about the fact that it was a French President)
CBC - Montreal comedian pranks Sarah Palin (that it was from Montreal)
Let's see if they have the courage to do that to Barrack or his wife. Hell will break loose. maybe they can talk about our 57 states or how America is a downright mean country when you make over 300k as a professor with 3 years experience because your husband is a senator or maybe about how to get a cheap/free land when you make a deal with a slumlord.
But all these are too difficult to be understood by illiterate uneducated wanna-be victims.
You're actually calling others 'illiterate' or 'uneducated'? Hilarious. Oh the irony.
Who are these 'illiterate uneducated wanna-be [sic] victims'? It seems to me it has been the McCain campaign playing the victim -- the media supposedly being out to get them, you know, by infringing on Palin's first amendment rights to run a smear campaign by criticizing it.
I heard it was actually Tina Fey prank calling them.

Sarah's proving a comedy target the world over. I've read the transcript of the call and it's hilarious! Also check out the South African political cartoon blog Wonkie for an alternative behind the scenes look at the Sarkozy call:
