Well it has nothing to do with similar situations in the US. As you might have read the story, a similar incident there saved the PM another term in the office as well as the girl publishing the book lots of money.
Here we are living in the land of Jesus, and even looking at another woman is Adultery, and the bible says Adultery is Bad! Therefore it is Bad!
I think this week's The Economist has an excellent opinion on the Spitzer-case. "Eliot Spitzer is a hard man to defend. He was the most self-righteous politician in America—which is saying something—and an arrogant bully with it. ... Mr Spitzer had no interest in the distinction between “public†and “privateâ€. He prosecuted “prostitution rings†as vehemently as he fought other forms of crime". The hypocrites' club.
I am glad that in most European countries there is a clearer line between public and private issues and representatives of public authorities are more judged by their public affairs than private, and the public leave more room for privacy. What seems to make Mr. Spitzer's story unique is that he has never respected this boundary as a representative of a public authority.
