I'm gonna go out on a limb here...

Mike Huckabee in a landslide! :)

I've been reading this blog for a good while, and have really enjoyed it. Keep up the good work!

I was just watching....

...a clip from youtube of Dan Savage, Chris Hitchens and others talking about American religiosity on Bill Maher's program last week. I'm sure most of you can guess the tone of that one!

No idea who's going to take it tomorrow. I'd like to see it go to Obama, but I feel as though the media has gone a bit too far portraying the narrative as one where he's all but a shoe-in. Wouldn't be at all surprised if it's a real battle still.

Obama'll take Texas, but

Obama'll take Texas, but Clinton's going to take Ohio. Oh the Buckeyes...

Obama will with the popular

Obama will with the popular vote in TX, but Clinton will end up getting more delegates. Texas electoral rules say that delegates are apportioned to viable candidates; if Clinton can keep Obama under 56% in the urban districts he leads in, the delegates will be split 50/50. I think it there is a good chance that she will be able to do that, and will be able to prevent the same thing from happening in the lower-turnout Hispanic districts to the south and west, where Obama will need to keep Clinton from getting 66% of the vote to split the delegates there 50/50.

Ohio will be New Mexico all over again, a race so close (and important) that CNN/FoxNews/NBC et al. will not call it for a winner. I expect Clinton to pull off a narrow victory there, but Obama is coming on strong. It will be interesting to watch.

All told, I think even if Clinton is able to stymie Obama in TX and pick up an even split of delegates, and runs close in OH, the public perception will continue to swing towards Obama being the "inevitable candidate". It's going to take quick, decisive victories in both states for her to hang onto any semblance of viability.

the internets be busy!

5 hour gun battle across the border in Tijuana. Drug lords/underlings vs police/military. Good thing we are making it easier to cross the border.

A couple was arrested for making dry-ice bombs, Saturday. This seems to be nothing more than a way to celebrate their sons 18th birthday, and not related to terrorism, just stupidity. In an odd move for the SD U-T, the ethnicity was NOT reported.

To weigh in again...

I am an educator in inner-city Dallas. With almost no exceptions, the favorite candidate is Obama, regardless of race. (about 70% of my students are Hispanic) I can only assume that the children have their strong opinions based on those of their parents.

Now, if these parents are actually going to vote or not is a different story.

I had a friend remark "Where were all these people 4 years ago?!"

I'm not amazed that this election is garnering so much attention, but I am, for once, proud of my countrymen and women for actually paying attention for once.
