Here's Kimberly Kagan in today's Wall Street Journal, in a piece arguing desperately that the surge strategy is working in Iraq:
[M]ilitia-backed mortar teams firing on the Green Zone have been destroyed."
That statement is no longer operative:
BAGHDAD, July 10 — Insurgents unleashed their most intense mortar attack to date on the Green Zone on Tuesday, killing 3 people and wounding 18, according to a statement from the American Embassy.
What's doubly unfortunate for Kagan is that the Green Zone attack, in which an American soldier was killed, happened before the op-ed was published. But perhaps the story wasn't out yet.
