Why is Fidel wearing tracksuits?

Below is a transcript of the conversation I had this weekend in Orange County, California, with a friend, a self-proclaimed Valley Girl:

Friend: What's the deal with Fidel Castro?

Me: What about him?

Friend: For decades, all he wears are drab, olive fatigues or uniforms. Then he gets sick, and now he's wearing tracksuits?

Me: Yeah. So?

Friend: That's just wrong. Who does he think he is? Snoop Dogg?
