After three years and billions of dollars in reconstruction contracts awarded to private firms, Iraq is one of the most corrupt countries in the world and the country's infrastructure remains in tatters. With the termination of the office for the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction next year, it is unclear who will continue to fulfill its role of verifying the quality of contractor work. As U.S. contractors remain in the firing line for their excessive spending, this week's FP List takes a look at the major missteps made by contractors in Iraq.
