Note to Hillary: Florida is not Zimbabwe

Thu, 05/22/2008 - 11:21am

Hillary Clinton, desperate to get Florida's primary to count for her, didn't just rely on an easy allusion to the 2000 election debacle while campaigning there yesterday. She went ahead and compared the uncounted votes in Florida to the crisis in ZIMBABWE.

[P]eople go through the motions of an election only to have them discarded and disregarded.”

“We’re seeing that right now in Zimbabwe," Clinton explained. "Tragically, an election was held, the president lost, they refused to abide by the will of the people,” Clinton told the crowd of senior citizens at a retirement community in south Florida.

“So we can never take for granted our precious right to vote."

So, Hillary is just doing The Onion writers' jobs for them now? Because that's just absurd.

Was this blog ever above

Was this blog ever above cheap political shots, or has my memory failed me?

She didn't compare the situation to Zimbabwe. She said that we shouldn't take our voting for granted in America. If someone wasn't pre-disposed to think of Hillary Clinton as 'desperate' or 'absurd,' they would have easily seen that.

I disagree. If anyone is

I disagree. If anyone is taking a cheap shot here it is the Clinton brian trust. They would like to liken their inability to get a 'fair' shake in Florida to the disenfranchised voters in Zimbabwe....therefore Obama = Mugabe. Does anyone not believe that the Clinton's are indeed desperate and absurd and 'above' playing the race card whenever possible? The one thing the Clintons do know is how stupid the electorate is....otherwise how could Bill be held in such high esteem.
