Here comes Hillary

Peter Baker for the New York Times:

Hillary Rodham Clinton has decided to give up her Senate seat and accept the position of secretary of state, making her the public face around the world for the administration of the man who beat her for the Democratic presidential nomination, two confidants said Friday.

Mrs. Clinton came to her decision after additional discussion with President-elect Barack Obama about the nature of her role and his plans for foreign policy, said one of the confidants, who insisted on anonymity to discuss the situation. Mr. Obama’s office told reporters Thursday that the nomination is "on track" but Clinton associates only confirmed Friday afternoon that she has decided.

What a bummer....

I guess that was the price Obama paid for her minimalist show of party unity. What a sad outcome and a big mistake. The Clintons right now own all the global relationships....why should they share them? For the good of the country? Ha, what a laugh...since when has that ever fitted into their calculations. I won't say I want my vote back...but I am going to unsubscribe from those annoying messages from David Pflouffe (or whatever) that are asking us to pay for the transition. This is why I can't stand politics....The Art of the Possibly Distasteful.

Change?

I'm left wondering what exactly Obama's changing. Every one of his appointments has been a political insider. Business as usual, indeed.

The first morally bankrupt Secretary of State!

Never mind the White House travel office... Just in her campaign, Hillary had three doozies:

1) She planted people in her town hall meetings to ask "unscripted" questions.

2) Her New Hampshire "tearing up" that saved her campaign? She was asked "how do you stay so wonderful" - her teary response was about "some of us are ready on day one" etc. Give us a break, lady.

3) Being subjected to sniper fire in Tuzla? She never actually admitted to lying. First she blamed Sinbad, then she said she was "tired", then she said she "confused" then finally that she was "mistaken".

On second thought, we've picked a master BS artist to be our main diplomat. Maybe it's OK!
